Hello!
I am Abbeigh George and I am elated to be your student’s fifth grade Literacy & Social Studies teacher at International Studies! This is my sixth year teaching and I have no doubt that it will be a great one! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of students to continue my career with.
I was born and raised here in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I went to Kindergarten through 6th grade at Jonesboro Public Schools. I actually attended school in the IS building under the name SAC the year before JPS transitioned to magnet schools. Just before 7th grade, I transferred to Nettleton where I graduated with honors in 2013. After completing high school, I moved to Clarksville, Arkansas- a town of about 7,000 people and much fewer stoplights- to attend the University of the Ozarks where I would begin my career of becoming an elementary school teacher. In 2016, I graduated from this same university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, including a minor in Psychology. This degree certified me to teach preschool through 4th grade in Arkansas. I have since added an endorsement extending that license through 6th grade. I am also a certified English as a Second Language teacher. In August of 2020 I graduated with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
I am married to an absolutely wonderful man named Garrett! In December of 2019 he and I welcomed our first child, Isaac! He is the center of our universe and the most precious soul! In addition to my human family, I have a LARGE fur family- 2 puppy dogs and 3 orange cats!
My desire to learn is what has brought me to your student’s classroom. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not trying to attain new information. With your student’s help, I hope to continue my tradition of learning something new with every passing moment. I hope that my passion for my job is evident to you through my interactions with the students in my classroom. I believe that teaching transcends the boundaries of simply imparting knowledge to young minds. It is truly a profession that’s core lies within creating students who are eager and excited learners for the rest of their lives.
The 2020-2021 school year will be one that I never forget. Thank you for allowing your student to bless my life.
-Mrs. George
